The Linzer Torte is said to be the oldest cake ever to be named after a place (the city of Linz, Austria). Its invention is the subject of numerous legends, claiming various origins and now with variations around the world, traditionally served as a holiday treat in the Austrian, Hungarian, Swiss and German cultures.
